A bird in the hand?

Interesting to read that the eco-warriors trying their best to disrupt the G20 summit this week plan to keep one step ahead of the police by using the social networking site, Twitter. Not just for the kids, 'tweeting' is becoming an increasingly popular method of communication in some areas of the business community espcially journalism and PR (NB. tweeting, according to people in the know allows 'informal collaboration and quick information sharing') - we've been evaluating Twitter for a few weeks and 'tweeting' occasionally but have yet to be convinced about it's application within our business - does anyone else use Twitter and have you found it useful? (or if like me up until a few weeks ago, you've got absolutely no idea what it is visit www.tweeternet.com for a quick one page guide!)

It may be flavour of the month but - according to the seminar I was at today - used well, it is generating business (for the likes of Dell), engagement and even re-homing of dogs (Dogs Trust). Used badly, of course, it can damage your brand & reputation (eg if used as a mere conduit for press releases).

Probably old news, but read recently that TwitterJobSearch.com(developed by UK jobs search engine Workhound) collects jobs that appear on Twitter. Apparently can be accessed by Twitters and non-Twitter users. When a jobseeker finds a job tweet of interest, they can be directed to the job post or the individual that posted the tweet.

Thanks Nick - I only hear about TwitterJobSearch a day or so ago - am looking at whether we should put a Skillfair TweetFeed up.

Twitter may at first seem like a bit of throwaway fun , but it has actually evolved into a very useful tool. You've probably heard of it already but there's now a handy twitter directory (http://wefollow.com/) which can norrow down your interest by topic.
